It’s been a long four years since we’ve heard new music from Canada’s pop-punk superstars Simple Plan. Its not that they haven’t been busy: the band embarked on a massive two-year tour that saw the Montreal five-piece perform around the world in support of 2011’s Get Your Heart On!
Then Simple Plan spent the next two years crafting one of its most diverse releases to date. Take One for the Team is the name of this new record, and it features some typically heavy Simple Plan rockers like “Opinion Overload” but also delves into other musical territories, like reggae with “Singin’ in the Rain” and straight-up pop with the Nelly collaboration “I Don’t Wanna Go to Bed.”
The title of the record says a lot about Simple Plan. The band members are all lifelong friends who understand that the success of their relationship and the success of their band has always been about working with each other to achieve a common goal. It is that obvious friendship and camaraderie that is the driving force behind Take One for the Team.
