“nrK7 (Punk Rock Holiday): Viaje al paraíso del Punk Rock”

——————–
“These Dead Streets” es el tema 07 del disco “Career Suicide” (2007)
——————– Lyrics: ——————–

We went away to the mountains
To corporate restaurants,
Corporate food
Mama and papa got liquor
And gun stores
Torching this city down
I had a thought and I lost it
It was a monument, decent and pure
Took out a razor and made my own picasso
Hold me when I’m ready now

I made it far,
To the bleeding of your hearts remains:
To the point I care about your lies
When the mayor owns a pizza chain
And we’re sick of moving, we decide…
I’m gonna wreck this
And like a snake sticks to its hole,
He won’t come out
’til the sun soaks up
These dead streets

On the way back from the mountains,
Stopped by the cemetery, drank to our youth
Thought of our ages and stopped it
We blame our diets on changes in mood

We made it far,
To the bleeding of your hearts remains:
To the point I care about your lies
When the mayor owns a pizza chain
And we’re sick of moving, we decide…
I’m gonna wreck this
And like a snake sticks to its hole,
I won’t come out
’til the sun heats up these dead streets
And I know
We’re gonna make it
Because your hearts in your intentions
You and me,
We will resurrect these dead streets
You and me,
We will resurrect these dead streets

We went away to the mountains
We only stayed for a night

The electronic music is a type of music produced and performed predominantly with electronic musical instruments such as the synthesizer, the sampler, the drum, the sequencer, and more recently, computers, thanks to the increasing developments in technology and software, play a vital role in the production of contemporary electronic music. It also typically use electromechanical instruments such as electric guitar or the Hammond organ. There are a lot of electronic music genres, showing a very wide range of sounds; from the background music to the music industry more experimental, to styles such as synthpop, dance, hip hop or chill out, they all have in common is the predominant or exclusive use of electronic instruments.

Synthpop or synth-pop or synthpop denotes a pop style in the 1970s within the electronic dance music, whose main feature is the use of electronic instruments as a style element. This traditional instruments should not simply be replaced by electronic music. Instead, it was started as a trial order, new artistic ways of creating sound design and style to go.

In addition to synth-pop, the terms “are electro “and” Technopop “is used, the precise definition and limitation are discussed differently. What is meant is a produced with synthetic sound generation and / or pop music samplers, depending on the musical emphasis. Nevertheless, not every pop music electronically generated automatically called synth pop.

In the triumph of techno -movement of the synth-pop was pushed back into the ground. There, especially bands like led De / Vision, Second Decay, Elegant Machinery and Pitch Yarn of Matter typical of the 1980s sound on. With the advent of ever more powerful PCs from the mid-1990s keyboard synthesizer and sampling machines disappeared progressively and thus gradually the classic synth-pop.

At the same time, there was a brief synth-pop revival, but the one major success was denied. Setting the tone here were mainly Swedish and German labels such as October, with bands like Children Within, Kiethevez, Vision System, Forbidden Colours and State Machine, and Visage Records, with groups such as the Daily Planet and Point of View.

While the most common in the industrialized world is on popular music with electronic instruments, Synth-pop has its own stylistic tendencies that differentiate it from other music produced by the same means. These include the exploitation of artificiality (synthesizers are used to mimic acoustic instruments), the use of mechanical rhythms, vocal arrangements as a counterpoint to the artificiality of the instruments and the model ostinato effect. Structures Synth-pop songs are generally similar to popular music.

The Synth-pop origins date back to the development of synthesizers and Electronic music, but its real development began when the pioneers of Electronic Kraftwerk recorded their fourth album Autobahn in 1974, changing the development of Electronic music and popular. The use that was given to synthesizers by the then trio of Ralf Hütter, Florian Schneider and Wolfgang Flur catapulted to international success. His revolutionary work, futuristic and original for the time, would be instrumental in the development of music in later years and would influence strongly the artists that would come a few years later, especially in the United Kingdom.

In Germany, Synth-pop movement began from the age of Kraftwerk after launched its first self-titled album in 1970. Kraftwerk, who had come from the movement of progressive rock, decided to go further with sound experimentation creating an innovative multidisciplinary concept future generations of Electronic music. The most important exponents of Synth-pop in Germany are Alphaville, Kraftwerk, Celebrate the Nun, Camouflage and Modern Talking.

In the new millennium, a renewed interest in Electronic music and nostalgia of the 1980s led to the beginnings of a revival of Synth-pop, with acts such as Fischerspooner and Adult. In 2003-2004 they began to move into the mainstream with Ladytron, The Postal Service, Cut Copy, The Bravery and The Killers all producing records that synthesizer incorporated vintage sounds and styles that contrast with the dominant genres Post-grunge and Nu Metal.

The synthpop is defined by the use of synthesizers, drum machines and sequencers, often used to replace other instruments. Synthesizers usually used to mimic the sounds of orchestral instruments clichés. The songs were also included, and the lyrics were generally optimistic inspired themes such as romance.

This one turned out way different then what I intended. It was meant to be some heavy stuff, but as you can hear, it’s actually pretty mellow, kind of 90s ballad-ish. Still, there’s potential for the clean guitars to be counter-balanced by some heavy guitars in a verse chorus structure in the future.

Let me know what you think! 🙂

Vinyl Records Go for a New Spin

From http://voaspecialenglish.com | http://facebook.com/voalearningenglish

For many Americans, vinyl records bring back memories of growing up in the ’60s and ’70s.

At that time, people listened to Elvis Presley and The Beatles on black discs spinning on a turntable. Today’s younger generation did not grow up with vinyl records. But for them, vinyl is cool.

Fourteen-year-old Jack Lowenstein visited Crooked Beat Records in Washington, DC.

JACK LOWENSTEIN: “I prefer to buy vinyl records over CD.”

Nineteen-year-old Sarah Griffith likes them, too.

SARAH GRIFFITH: “More recently I’ve started buying more, you know, like old punk records and stuff.”

Jonathon Oldmixon is in his 30s. For him, records are collectibles.

JONATHON OLDMIXON: “I don’t have a preference. However I’ll admit there are some things that I want specifically on vinyl because they have a certain aesthetic appeal to them. The picture on the cover is really nice or the record itself is really nice.”

Nielsen SoundScan reports on music and audio sales in the United States. It says vinyl records were the fastest growing music media in 2010. About three million were sold. Still, sales of vinyl records in America are small compared to CDs and MP3s.

Bill Daly is the owner of Crooked Beat.

BILL DALY: “Since 2007, vinyl has grown to where it is now — 99 percent of our sales. In 2007, when they started introducing new vinyl releases, free MP3 download card with it, that’s when the sales started surging.”

He says his online sales of vinyl are growing.

BILL DALY: “We ship all over the world almost every day. You name the country, we’ve probably shipped there because there’s not very many record stores around the world anymore.”

Furnace MFG in Virginia was mainly known for manufacturing CDs and DVDs. Now its main product is vinyl. Company head Eric Astor says meeting demand for vinyl has been hard.

ERIC ASTOR: “They haven’t made a new vinyl pressing machine since the early ’80s, so you have to find the equipment that’s available and there’s not a lot of equipment available.”

Eric Astor has partnered with vinyl factories in Germany and Holland. The records are sent to Furnace’s headquarters, prepared and shipped. Astor says his company produces more than two million vinyl records a year.
For some people, they are a reminder of a time before digital media.

Joe Pollock has been collecting vinyl for seven years.

JOE POLLOCK: “I go through my collection, I pick out what I want to hear, I put it on, there’s that, you’re touching it, you’re feeling it. There is a warmth to it. And you have to sit through a whole album.”

As Eric Astor notes:

ERIC ASTOR: “A record that’s pressed well from start to finish can sound much better than anything digital because of the fact that it’s not in compressed, whereas with any sort of a CD or even a high-res digital file there’s always a little bit of compression.”

Astor says nothing beats a real record. He says vinyl’s popularity will continue to grow. I’m Mario Ritter.

8/12 Fall Out Boy – The Phoenix @ EITM DC 101 Holiday Concert, EagleBank Arena, Fairfax, VA 12/03/15

Fall Out Boy is an American rock band formed in Wilmette, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, in 2001. The band consists of vocalist and guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, guitarist Joe Trohman, and drummer Andy Hurley. The band originated from Chicago’s hardcore punk scene, with which Wentz was heavily involved. The group was formed by Wentz and Trohman as a pop punk side project of their respective hardcore bands, and Stump joined shortly thereafter. The group went through a succession of drummers before landing Hurley and recording their debut album, Take This to Your Grave (2003), which became an underground success and helped the band gain a dedicated fanbase through heavy touring, as well as some moderate commercial success.

With Wentz as the band’s lyricist and Stump as the primary composer, the band’s 2005 major-label breakthrough, From Under the Cork Tree, produced two hit singles, “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” and “Dance, Dance,” and went double platinum, transforming the group into superstars and making Wentz a celebrity and tabloid fixture. Fall Out Boy received a Best New Artist nomination at the 2006 Grammy Awards. Their 2007 follow-up, Infinity on High, landed at number one on the Billboard 200 with 260,000 first week sales. It produced two worldwide hit singles, “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race” and “Thnks fr th Mmrs.” Folie à Deux, the band’s fourth album, created a mixed response from fans and commercially undersold expectations. Following the release of Believers Never Die – Greatest Hits, the band took a hiatus from 2009 to 2012 to “decompress,” exploring various side projects. They regrouped and recorded Save Rock and Roll (2013), which gave the band their second career number one and produced the 5x platinum top 20 single “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up).” Their sixth studio album, American Beauty/American Psycho (2015), released worldwide on Island Records, was preceded by the 3x Platinum top 10 hit “Centuries” and also spawned the platinum single “Uma Thurman” which peaked at 22 on Hot 100. The album peaked at No. 1, making it the group’s third No. 1 album and their fifth consecutive top 10 album.

While Fall Out Boy’s music has been typically described as pop punk and pop rock, the band were generally seen in the mid-2000s at the forefront of the “emo pop” explosion.[9] Take This to Your Grave has commonly been cited as an influential blueprint for pop punk music in the 2000s.
