Green Day - Shout – Live in Oakland

Green Day – Shout/Always Look on the Bright Side of Life/(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction/Hey Jude – Oakland, Live, 8-5-17, 1st row, Oakland Coliseum. Billie Joe: You! OK, get your ass up here! 😛

Other Tidbits:

Hometown show! For ‘Know Your Enemy’, ‘Longview’ and ‘Knowledge’, Billie invited a fan to sing and play the guitar with them. 2 of the fans picked out were standing adjacent to me, lol. Many of the fans recognized each other from previous Green Day concerts. In fact, the kid who played ‘Longview and J.A.R.’ last year on the guitar and who was featured in the ‘Spotify Landmark Series: Green Day The Early Years’, was next to me in the VIP line.

For the VIPs, we received, among other things, the opportunity to watch the band sound check from the stadium’s suites. Two of the songs sound checked were ‘Homecoming’ and ‘Too Dumb to Die’, but neither was performed. Like Oakland Arena, they have an early curfew at ~11:00, so perhaps there was not enough time before the scheduled fireworks.

Billie Joe (during ‘Letterbomb’): OMG! We’re home! This is family! This is friendship! This is about home… Tonight, every song is about home! The East Bay! The entire Bay Area man!

To further celebrate the homecoming, the band held a Pop-Up Shop at 1-2-3-4 Go! Records in Oakland for 2 days, complete with exclusive merchandise, giveaways, free Oakland Coffee, and appearances by the Drunk Bunny and the A’s Mascot, Stomper. Upon opening, there was a ~30-fan long line out the door. The first 250 Idiot Nation Fan Club members got 2 free tries on the carnival claw machine to win miniature stuffed pink or green drunk bunnies. Only 25 of the green bunnies were made and they were all in the machine. I aimed the claw to try to get one of those, but it didn’t hold on 😛 I bought a pair of posters and they gave me a free Oakland Coffee tote bag, which was nice.

The opener was Catfish and the Bottlemen, who was actually scheduled to perform last year with Green Day at Oakland Arena for Not So Silent Night 2016, but they had to cancel. Many were looking forward to seeing them as well.

Blink-182 is an American rock band formed in Poway, a suburb of San Diego, California, in 1992. The trio consists of bassist and vocalist Mark Hoppus, guitarist and vocalist Tom DeLonge, and drummer Travis Barker. The band is considered a key group in the development of pop punk music; their combination of pop melodies with fast-paced punk rock featured a more radio-friendly accessibility than prior bands. The group, with original drummer Scott Raynor, emerged from the Southern California punk scene of the early 1990s and first gained notoriety for high-energy live shows and irreverent lyrical toilet humor.

The band was initially known as Blink until Irish band Blink threatened legal action; they appended “-182”. Cheshire Cat (1995) led the band to tour with Pennywise and NOFX on the Warped Tour. Dude Ranch (1997) was co-distributed by major label MCA Records and featured their first rock radio hit, “Dammit”. Raynor was fired midway through a 1998 tour and replaced by Barker. Enema of the State (1999) was an enormous success on the strength of hit singles “What’s My Age Again?”, “Adam’s Song” and “All the Small Things”, which enjoyed massive airplay and became MTV staples. Take Off Your Pants and Jacket (2001) reached number 1 in the United States, Canada, and Germany. The eponymously titled Blink-182 followed in 2003 and marked a stylistic shift for the group, infusing experimental elements into their usual pop punk formula, resulting in a more mature sound. At the heights of stardom, DeLonge left the group in 2005, sending the band into what was termed an “indefinite hiatus”. The trio reunited in 2009 and their sixth studio album, Neighborhoods, was released in 2011.

Blink-182 has sold over 35 million albums worldwide.[1] In 2011, The New York Times asserted, “no punk band of the 1990s has been more influential than Blink-182,” and even as the band receded after their 2005 split, “its sound and style could be heard in the muscular pop punk of Fall Out Boy or in the current wave of high-gloss Warped Tour punk bands, like All Time Low and The Maine.

Burn7 – A Punk Deathmetal Song

Burn7 - A Punk Deathmetal Song

Original author’s comments:
It is not a direct representation of my singing ability or my views on Death Metal or Alternative. So don’t go QQing it up in a review that you can’t understand what I’m saying or whatever.
*End of disclaimer*

This is a -kinda- parody of Alternative music being boring and repetitive. I wrote an alternative punk styled song while working on stuff for Goremaster 3, and decided “You know what? I’m gonna do death metal vocals over this. Why? Because I’m an idiot with a microphone, that’s why.”

*Awesome megatastic lyrics*
So… I wrote an alternative song. And I didn’t come up with lyrics. So they lyrics, I’m gonna make up off the top of my head.

Let’s rock N’ roll.

Bet you weren’t expecting Death Metal vocals.
But I don’t know how to sing normally.
So this is all you are going to get.
Until I take some music lessons.

And I don’t have any money
So I probably won’t do it any time soon.

-Growl and ‘YEAH YEAH BABY’-

That’s all you’re getting for now
This is the end of the song
And I don’t really feel that

I didn’t know what to say here.

-in the distance you can hear a HUA!-
