We love concerts! Last night we went to the Green Day show at FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, Ontario and it was absolutely incredible! One of the many great moments during any Green Day concert is when they pull fans up on stage to either sing with them or play an instrument. This show in Hamilton, they invited 3 different fans up on stage. 2 sang with them and then there was Sofie. I think all of our dreams came true vicariously through Sofie. Not only did she KILL it on stage with them, Billie Joe told her she can keep the guitar! Watch it go down in our 2 minute Sofie montage, here.
This morning on the New Zealand iTunes Store, Green Day’s song “Revolution Radio” was released and is now available for purchase and download.
The song clocks in at 3 minutes in length and is very guitar driven. We have added the lyrics to the song to our music section here. Check out a short preview of the song below:
Billie Joe has described the song as:
“I was just watching this controlled chaos, and it was going and happening all over the country. I was feeling that people don’t want to feel obsolete in the things that we care about. That’s sort of what the song is about.”
It looks like the release is slowly making its way around the world, starting in the eastern-most part as it is beginning to be Friday there. As your timezone gets closer to Friday, keep checking the iTunes Store or Spotify to see if the song is available for you. If you’ve pre-ordered the album on iTunes, it will notify you when the song is available for download.
For those in the US and Canada, the song should hit the iTunes Store, Spotify, and other services around midnight eastern. If you have yet to pre-order the album, you can do so on iTunes, Amazon, and Google Play.
Let us know when you’ve heard it and tell us what you think!

“Are we, we are the waiting?” Indeed. Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong talks about new songs being written for the highly awaited LP, hopefully set for a 2016 release date.
In an interview with RollingStone, lead guitarist and vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong shared details of the new Green Day album that is currently in development. “We’ve always been pretty charged up. Before we found any of this [Hall of Fame award] out, I had already written a few songs and everybody was really excited by them.”
“We’re not going to try and pull off some, like, victory lap over this because I definitely want the music to come from a real place and be inspired, not just because we got honored or anything like that, but because we’re honoring music. We want to work on them, and we want to make a great album.”
Armstrong also revealed that there is currently a handful of songs that has already been created for the new album, yet the release date isn’t so much of his concern as of the moment. In the same interview, the Green Day frontman shared, “I’ve got, like, four or five songs right now.”
“I’m gonna take it really slow,” he added. “I’m just gonna make sure every moment is inspired and that we have something that’s really special to us. And right now with the songs that we have, it’s going in the right direction.”
When was asked about the release date for the new album and if it will be out at least by next year, Armstrong simply replied “I can’t say.”
