Ordinary World Billie Joe Armstrong Trailer Released

What happens when Revolution Radio turns into dad rock? You get Ordinary World, which features Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong in his first leading role as an actor. After appearing at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year, the dramedy will make its way onto theaters on October 14. Less than a month before its release, we’re now getting the first trailer.

The film’s premise is basically, “What if Green Day became irrelevant and 44-year-old Billie Joe Armstrong became a washed-up dad?” The trailer follows him as he goes punk for a night. Hijinks ensue with Fred Armisen making an appearance. Watch the clip below.

Billie Joe Armstrong has been to the top of rock and roll mountain. But in the new trailer for Ordinary World, the Green Day singer plays loveable punk rock wash-out Perry Miller, who is having a terrible, horrible, not so great 40th birthday. Rocking nerdy black frame glasses and and a not-so-cool red vest at his lame hardware store day job, Miller is bummed out when his wife (Selma Blair) forgets his birthday.

Green Day Robs a Band (Or Do They?) in Tim Armstrong-Directed ‘Bang Bang’ Video

So, he does what any failed rock star would do, he grabs his best bud (Fred Armisen) and has a blow out party at a hotel. Check out Armstrong’s first starring role, which will be released in theaters, digital HD and On Demand on Oct. 14:

Green Day – The Static Age – [HQ]

Title: The Static Age
Album: 21st Century Breakdown

Lyrics:

Can you hear the sound of the static noise, blasting out in stereo?
Cater to the class and the paranoid, music to my nervous system
Advertising love and religion, murder on the airwaves
Slogans on the brink of corruption

Visions of blasphemy,war and peace
Screaming at you

I can’t see a thing in the video
I can’t hear a sound on the radio
in stereo in the static age

Billboard on the rise in the dawn’s landscape, working your insanity
Tragic ala madness and concrete Coca Cola execution
Conscions on a cross and your hearts in a vice,
Squeezing out your state of mind
Are what you own that you cannot buy

What a fucking tragedy,strategy
Screaming at you

I can’t see a thing in the video
I can’t hear a sound on the radio
in stereo in the static age

Hey, hey it’s the static age
This is how the west was won
Hey, hey it’s the static age millennium

All I want to know is a god damned thing
Not what’s in the medicine
All I want to do is I want to breathe, batteries are not included
What’s the latest way that a man can die?
Screaming hallelujah?
Singing out “the dawn’s early light”

The silence of the rotten,forgotten
Screaming at you

I can’t see a thing in the video
I can’t hear a sound on the radio
in stereo in the static age

Green Day is an American punk rock band formed in 1987 by lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt. For much of their career the band has been a trio with drummer Tré Cool. In 2012 guitarist and backing vocalist Jason White became a full member after playing in the band as a session and touring guitarist for 13 years.[1] Cool replaced former drummer John Kiffmeyer in 1990, prior to the recording of the band’s second studio album, Kerplunk (1992).

Green Day was originally part of the punk scene at the DIY 924 Gilman Street club in Berkeley, California. The band’s early releases were from the independent record label Lookout! Records. In 1994, its major label debut Dookie released through Reprise Records became a breakout success and eventually sold over 10 million copies in the U.S.[2] Green Day was widely credited, alongside fellow California punk bands Sublime,[3] Bad Religion, the Offspring, and Rancid, with popularizing and reviving mainstream interest in punk rock in the United States.[4][5]

Green Day’s three follow-up albums, Insomniac (1995), Nimrod (1997), and Warning (2000) did not achieve the massive success of Dookie, though they were still successful, with Insomniac and Nimrod reaching double platinum and Warning reaching gold status.[6] The band’s rock opera, American Idiot (2004), reignited the band’s popularity with a younger generation, selling five million copies in the United States.[6] The band’s eighth studio album, 21st Century Breakdown, was released in 2009 which achieved the band’s best chart performance to date.[7] 21st Century Breakdown was followed up by a trilogy of albums called ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! released in September, November and December 2012 respectively.[8]

They are one of the world’s best-selling groups of all time, having sold more than 75 million albums and singles worldwide.[9] The group has won five Grammy Awards: Best Alternative Album for Dookie, Best Rock Album for American Idiot, Record of the Year for “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”, Best Rock Album for the second time for 21st Century Breakdown and Best Musical Show Album for American Idiot: The Original Broadway Cast Recording. In 2010, a stage adaptation of American Idiot debuted on Broadway. The musical was nominated for three Tony Awards: Best Musical, Best Scenic Design and Best Lighting Design, losing only the first. Also in 2010, Green Day were ranked number 91 in the VH1 list of the “100 Greatest Artists of All Time”.[10] In 2014, the band were announced as nominees for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, their first year of eligibility.
