Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)
99 Revolutions opens the show, the song from which the title of their current world tour takes its name. For their second song, Know Your Enemy, their baby-faced Billie Joe Armstrong pulls a young fan from the crowd for some toe-curling awkwardness as he attempts a sing-along.

Reading Festival 2013: Green Day bring the unexpected

‘The greatest festival in the world.’ Declares Armstrong, the king of the schmooze. As the night goes on this turns out to be one of the sanest sentences to leave his lips, specially when he promises to ‘clear away all of the murder, all of the corporations, all of the corruption’.

The set was Green Day’s first billed appearance at Reading Festival since they last headlined in 2004, less than a month before they released their comeback album American Idiot. Holiday and Boulevard Of Broken Dreams from that album, back to back, elicit some of the greatest reactions from the huge Main Stage crowd during their two and a quarter hour long set.

Reading Festival 2013: Green Day bring the unexpected
Welcome to Billie Joe Armstrong Paradise.
After Wake Me Up When September Ends comes the great surprise of the night. To mark the fast approaching 20 year anniversary of Dookie, coming February 2014, they lower a stage backdrop with the eponymous album cover and proceed to play it in its entirety.

From Burnout to F.O.D., via When I Come Around and Basket Case, the near hour-long section certainly divides new and old fans but united they come out the otherside, better off for staying with it.

Other highlights include a cover of AC/DC’s Highway To Hell, a pink bunny and a toilet roll cannon. You certainly can’t accuse Green Day of acting their age, given the trio have now all reached the big 40 milestone.
Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don’t ask why
It’s not a question, but a lesson learned in time

It’s something unpredictable, but in the end is right,
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it’s worth it was worth all the while

It’s something unpredictable, but in the end is right,
I hope you had the time of your life.

It’s something unpredictable, but in the end is right,
I hope you had the time of your life.

It’s something unpredictable, but in the end is right,
I hope you had the time of your life.

Green Day – Scattered – [HQ]

Title: Scattered
Album: nimrod.

I’ve got some scattered pictures lying on my bedroom floor.
Reminds me of the times we shared.
Makes me wish that you were here.
‘Cause now it seems I’ve forgotten my purpose in this life.
All the songs have been erased.
Guess I’ve learned from my mistakes.

Open the past and present.
Now and we are there.
Story to tell and I am listening.
Open the past and present.
And the future too.
It’s all I’ve got and I’m giving it up to you.

Loose ends tied in knots.
Leaving a lump down in my throat.
Gagging on a souvenir.
Lodged to fill another year.
Drag it on and on until my skin is ripped to shreds.
Leaving myself open wide.
Living out a sacrifice.

If you got no one and I’ve got no place to go, would it be alright?
Could it be alright?

“Bang Bang” is a song by American rock band Green Day. It was released on August 11, 2016 as the lead single from their twelfth studio album, Revolution Radio (2016). It is the band’s first release since “Xmas Time of the Year” (2015); the single was released four years after their 2012 album trilogy, ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré!. Considered a mixture of the band’s early punk rock days and politically motivated later albums, the song was inspired from the rise in gun violence in the U.S. and the central theme revolves around from the point of view of a mass shooter. It is the first single recorded by the band since guitarist Jason White was dropped from his role as an official member.

The music video for the song was released on September 13, 2016, showcasing a trio robbing a bank with masks of the band members, then attending a Green Day house party. The song received positive critical reception and peaked at number one on the US Mainstream Rock chart and the Alternative Songs chart, along with charting on various international charts.

Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong chants “No Trump! No KKK! No Fascist USA during their American Music Awards 2016 performance Sunday Night. Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt of Green Day perform onstage at Microsoft Theater on Nov. 20, 2016 in Los Angeles. Green Day performed their new single “Bang Bang” and gave the awards show its most explicitly political moment in a night full of less-than-favorable nods to president-elect Trump.

“No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA”‘ frontman Billie Joe Armstrong chanted repeatedly during “Bang Bang,” nodding to Trump’s endorsement by the KKK and the rise in racist attacks and graffiti since the Republican’s victory (not to mention the appointment of Steve Bannon, a man with a history of pandering to white supremacists, to his White House cabinet).

Green Day is an American punk rock band formed in 1986 by lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist Mike Dirnt. For much of the group’s career, the band has been a trio with drummer Tré Cool, who replaced former drummer John Kiffmeyer in 1990 prior to the recording of the band’s second studio album, Kerplunk (1991). In 2012, guitarist Jason White became an official member after having performed with the band as a touring member since 1999.
