Full Scale (Band from Melbourne) – 2003 – Live at the Annandale Hotel, Sydney

Full Scale were a band from Melbourne who launched two EP’s in the early 2000’s. The band officially ended in 2005.

This fan-shot video captures the raw live energy and tight live jams of one of Australia’s earliest influential political-rock bands (apart from Midnight Oil) on a balmy night in Sydney during the year 2003.

A few months after this very show, the band were whisked off to America and signed to Columbia Records in New York for a large six-figure deal. Extensive touring of America occurred during 2004 and 2005.

Outside commercial forces, internal band tension and various substance vices caused the special and unique musical chemistry between the four uniquely different individuals to burn out prematurely.

Members: Ezekiel Ox. Robkaay. Jimmy Tee. Matt Crute.

What is ROCK AGAINST SEXISM? What does ROCK AGAINST SEXISM mean? ROCK AGAINST SEXISM meaning

What is ROCK AGAINST SEXISM? What does ROCK AGAINST SEXISM mean? ROCK AGAINST SEXISM meaning – ROCK AGAINST SEXISM definition – ROCK AGAINST SEXISM explanation.

Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license.

Rock Against Sexism (RAS) was a political and cultural movement dedicated to challenging sexism in the rock music community, pop culture and in the world at large. It was primarily a part of the punk rock music and arts scene.
RAS started in the UK in 1978, and by the mid-1980s also had a presence in North America. It was strongly inspired and influenced by Rock Against Racism and the two movements had many of the same participants.
In the UK, it began amid controversy when a Rock Against Racism event hired some Rastafarian reggae bands that some participants felt were misogynistic. This resulted in a discussion of sexism in music and art. The bands (Aswad and Misty in Roots) either responded by saying it was the will of God, or that they didn’t know what sexism was. The UK Rock Against Sexism often gained press coverage in the music press, such as the NME.
In the US, RAS Boston sponsored monthly dance parties at a local gay bar, the 1270. They put out a zine and promoted art events and gigs by non-sexist bands. RAS sponsored music workshops on writing, playing and promoting events.

Rock Against Sexism’s musical and political legacy was many more women playing in bands, working as promoters, and an increased awareness of women’s and queer perspectives in the punk rock community. Many trace the riot grrrl movement in the 1990s to RAS roots. It challenged heterosexism, homophobia, sexism and elitism, while challenging stereotypes of women, and the way they are represented.
Many later punk bands challenged the machismo of rock’n’roll by diversifying into cuddlecore, as well as the less rockist side of post-punk and New wave. It could be argued that RAS may have been the catalyst, as the advent of twee pop in the mid-1980s lead to rejection of the machismo of hardcore punk at the time.

Cyberpunk Digital Inspiration

Cyberpunk Digital Inspiration is an album made entirely of synth waveforms and rompler sound clips, crashed together in patterns that hopefully inspire others to create. Each track is accompanied by an image and a writing prompt.

As a classically trained musician, I’d never done much with synthesizers before. While writing a cyberpunk themed serial, Incorporated, that I intended to podcast, I decided to write a soundtrack to go with it. But to do that, I had to learn something new. Every other instrument I’d ever used had strings or tubes to create sound. Now I’m making sound with a MIDI keyboard and software. So I started writing cyberpunk themed music in a simple synth program, and started putting them up online.

Digital Inspirations is made of the first thirty synth and rompler tracks that I made while developing the style and digital instrument set for the soundtrack to Incorporated. I hope they will inspire others to create sci-fi and cyberpunk worlds and settings, just as they’ve done for me while I’ve been working on them. They were created with a combination of skills learned in analog instruments, and entirely digital or synthesized waveforms combined by software. Nature and technology, man and machine, working together to create something new.

What genre is it? Damned if I know. There’s a bit of synth and retro wave influence, just because I grew up in the 80s. There’s a bit of jazz and orchestral influence, because I’ve been in orchestras and small ensembles. For now, I’m just calling this a cyberpunk soundtrack, and leaving it at that.

If you want to download the full album, I put it online at http://chickenscratching.bandcamp.com/album/cyberpunk-digital-inspiration

All images (with the exception of the album cover) are just nifty cyberpunk-ish images I’ve found online, and I try to link to at least where I’ve found them. So they’re not mine to give permission to use. The original links to them can all be found with the original music posts at http://chickenscratchingdotcom.tumblr.com/tagged/writing-prompt

All writing prompts are free to use (of course. Otherwise there isn’t much use in sharing them), and all music is free for non-commercial use. (although I do love me some link-backs and attribution if you can.)

BROCKHAMPTON – SATURATION PART 1 FIRST REACTION/REVIEW (JUNGLE BEATS)

BROCKHAMPTON: an american hiphop group calling themselves ‘The Internet’s first boy band’ formed in Texas in 2015 by Kevin Abstract on the forum ‘KanyeToThe’. We had no context on who BROCKHAMPTON were before listening to this. After seeing so many of you ask us to review them we had to check them out, and we’re very glad we listened. SATURATION = eclectic. We get a diverse range of vocal performances from a number of unique artists who seem to mesh very well together. This is not just rap, there are influences of punk, rock & roll and indie rock all across SATURATION. This probably works in BROCKHAMPTON’S favor as they’ll most likely have at least a couple tracks the average music fan will enjoy. Though this album is not cohesive as a collection of sounds and themes, to us, it’s a very enjoyable listen sonically, bar a few questionable moments on the album.

We accidentally listened to the first 10 tracks of the album thinking it was the whole album because my iTunes didn’t sync the album properly. Instead of making a 35 minute video we wanted to separate it as two different videos because it was two different listens. PART 2 releasing in about 24 hours. Hit the notification bell to be notified when it drops.

Jungle Beats aspires to be Australia’s plug to the best most prolific and unique hiphop artists in the world. @AlexanderPMann & @AlexSandalis host one of Australia’s few, and best HipHop podcast shows. Jungle Beats is purely about creatively sharing our love for music and hiphop with energy, positivity and passion. We started this in 2015 with a weekly 1 hour hiphop show on a radio station in Melbourne. In August 2016 we decided to create Jungle Beats. To us, Australia doesn’t have a strong hiphop identity within culture. Who do you think of when you think hiphop in Australia? Most think of 99 people OUTSIDE of this country. Maybe we can change that in some small way and push it forward. Jungle Beats is not what either of us focus the majority of our time on. Working on Jungle Beats Radio is side hustle of ours, so it’s not going to be perfect. It’s gonna be messy, haphazard and we’re gonna fuck up. But that’s music and we love it. Welcome in my new home recording studio which i call the BLACKBOX and where all my synthesizers are and in which i play my new synthesizer music now. It often sounds like 80s music hits by the way…
I put at least 3 layers of black paint on the walls and ceiling making it a bit like the HMH Heineken Music Hall Amsterdam in The Netherlands. Although the walls need some studio foam treatment and placement, the quality of studio sound is already great because of the curtains and carpet i put in.
Here you see me play my synthesizers live playing the new song BLACKBOX, playing it in my old studio as projected on the sheet and this is my welcoming my new studio and synth setup 😉
